Good idea to bring a bottle of water with you, it can be pretty hot with little shade. The skeletons on the lowest level are pretty spooky. 40 posts. I agree with the previous poster. I used Rick's self-guided tours in his Venice book for Doge's Palace and the Bascilica. His tour through the Palace tells you literally how to get down to the prison cells and out again.
