Not much has changed yet except the name. The big difference right now is that 68C students no longer go through the Medic/68W training prior to attending the course. Also, previously active duty SMs had to be a 68W for a year prior to attending the course. I don't believe that is the case any longer. The Combat Medic Specialist Training Program (CMSTP) is the largest medical training program in the U.S. Army, training up to 6,000 students per year.
